Which AI models can your PC run?
Choose your processor, memory and graphics card. We check each of 145 open-weight models against your hardware and estimate how fast it would write, from the model's published size and architecture.

How the estimate works
Memory needed is the model's weights (its parameter count from Hugging Face times the average bits per weight of the chosen llama.cpp quantization), plus the KV cache for the conversation, plus about 0.8 GB of runtime overhead. The KV cache is computed from each model's published config.json: grouped-query attention, DeepSeek-style latent attention, sliding-window layers (capped at the window) and linear-attention layers (no per-token cache) are all handled. 128 of the 145 models publish their config; for the rest we show the weights only.
Fast memory is a graphics card's video memory minus 0.6 GB, 75% of unified memory (the default GPU limit on Macs, often adjustable), or system RAM minus 4 GB for the operating system. If a model does not fit on a graphics card, the overflow can run from system RAM, which is slower.
Speed is limited by memory bandwidth: each generated token reads the active weights once. We scale the theoretical rate by the share real hardware achieves, measured on the AIPCs test bench, with a correction for AMD and Intel cards from published llama.cpp results. For mixture-of-experts models the active share comes from the expert layout in config.json; when that layout cannot be read reliably, we show whether the model fits but not a speed. Treat speeds as a range, not a promise: drivers, software and prompt length all move them.
These are estimates computed from sourced inputs, not measurements. See the methodology for how the underlying data is collected.
Frequently asked questions
How much VRAM do I need to run an 8B model?
At 4-bit quantization (Q4_K_M) the weights of an 8-billion-parameter model take about 4.8 GB. Add the conversation cache (typically 0.3 GB to 2.7 GB at 8K tokens for models in this directory) and about 0.8 GB of runtime overhead: about 5.9 GB to 8.3 GB in total. A 10 GB graphics card holds it even with the larger caches; an 8 GB card works for models with a small cache or with a shorter conversation.
How much VRAM do I need for a 32B or 70B model?
At 4-bit, a 32B model's weights are about 19 GB; with a small 8K cache it needs about 20 GB, which fits a 24 GB card. A 70B model needs about 44 GB, more than the largest consumer card we list (32 GB), so it runs split between graphics card and system RAM, or on a unified-memory machine such as a Mac with 64 GB or more.
Can I run a model without a graphics card?
Yes. The processor can run any model that fits in system RAM, but writing speed is limited by memory bandwidth, so dual-channel desktop memory (about 90 GB/s) suits small models and mixture-of-experts models with few active parameters, such as Qwen3 30B A3B or gpt-oss 20B.
Why are mixture-of-experts models faster than their size suggests?
A mixture-of-experts model stores many expert networks but uses only a few for each token. It needs memory for all of its weights, but each generated token reads only the active share, so it writes about as fast as a much smaller dense model.
